THE PROCESS.

Last year I got my first “adult” job. You know the one with the salary, the benefits, and the vacation time.

Yeah that one…

Throughout my college career I was praying that after I graduated the university I would get a job, but I didn’t know where, I would move out my mother’s house, currently still there, and I would live this lavish life, ha nowhere near.

But once I told my family and posted on social media about the job, someone told me “Oh you think you are all that now since you have a real job?”

*mouth dropped wide open*

Maybe the person was kidding but I took it heart.

Because little do they know, just six years ago I was speaking through a headset at a fast food restaurant asking "How can I take your order?"

Just four years ago, I worked at a daycare Monday- Friday because I needed a job to pay for my rent while I was in school.

Just two years ago I was working at an after-school program striving to be a role model to the children who in return molded me to be a better me.

Never would I have expected to now be working at the same university that I graduated from.

Never would I have expected to go from being interviewed to now doing the interviewing.

Never have I expected this, but those jobs prior to my current job, humbled me and allowed me to have an appreciation for those at the fast food restaurants, for those working at a daycare and the after-school programs because just years ago I was in their shoes.

Those words stuck with me, I had to understand that everyone just sees the results in your life, but they don’t see the process that it took to get you there.

And that is okay.

Just remember to NEVER let the words of others stop you from moving forward.
